Jimmy Rollins

Jimmy Rollins has just been named the National Leagues Most Valuable Player. Rollins follows in the footsteps of his teammate Ryan Howard who won the award last year.

J-Roll had an amazing season, in which he hit 94 runs batted in, 30 home runs, 38 doubles, and 20 triples. He also maned short stop for all 162 games for the Phillies, and stole 41 bases.

Jimmy also made a bold statement in April, claiming the Phillies were the “team to beat” in the National League East, despite not winning a division title since 1993. The Phillies did win the NL East, and Rollins backed up his words with his tremendous play on the field.

Congrats to Jimmy Rollins for winning this great award. J-Roll is the pride of Philadelphia.

I was surprised too. I knew that Holiday had put up some really impressive numbers, and thought he would win. It turned out to be one of the closest votes ever.

I was a bit surprised that Matt Holiday didn't win, but Rollins was very deserving.
