Last time J.R. Reed started a game, he was playing for the hottest team in the league. Now he’ll be starting against the hottest team in the league.
Reed made his only NFL start on the last day of the 2004 season, playing free safety against the Bengals while Brian Dawkins rested after the Eagles had clinched home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs on the way to the Super Bowl.
Since then, Reed has suffered a career threatening leg injury, spent a year out of football, bounced from the Eagles to the Rams to the Falcons to the Giants and back to the Eagles and was released again, only to resurface a week later.
Now, he’s primed to make his first start in three years against the most powerful offense in NFL history.
