Kyle Shotwell will see a familiar face when he steps into the Philadelphia Eagles locker room for the first time this morning.
He will be reunited with former Cal Poly teammate linebacker Chris Gocong after signing an undisclosed free-agent contract today with the Eagles, which places him on the practice squad.
“Chris is one of my closest pals and he will help make the adjustment easier,” Shotwell said.
The two Buck Buchanan Award winners as the top defensive player in Division I-AA (now Football Championship Subdivision) played together at Cal Poly from 2003-05 before Gocong was drafted by the Eagles in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft.
Unlike Gocong, who stayed on with the Eagles after concluding his rookie training camp, Shotwell was a training camp casualty.
