Everybody knows that Eagles GM Tom Heckert is interviewing today for the Atlanta Falcons GM position, but now an assistant coach may be gone as well.
Today Eagles secondary coach(former special teams coach) John Harbaugh is going to be interviewed for the Baltimore Ravens head coaching vacancy. Baltimore has told defensive coordinator Rex Ryan he could be considered, but they would like to go through other candidates first.
Harbaugh has spent nine years as the Special Teams coach, and for majority of that time the Eagles had excellent Special Teams. This past year he changed roles to the Secondary Coach, admittedly wanting to get a better shot at a head coaching job.
Harbaugh was one of the finalist for the vacant UCLA job, but lost out to former UCLA QB Rick Neuheisel. Now he is getting his shot at becoming a head coach in the NFL.
Ironically there are rumors that former Ravens Head Coach Brian Billick, might be joining the Eagles. Apparently he is very good friends with Andy Reid, and may not get another Head Coaching offer this year.
I wish Harbaugh well, but I wish he was still coaching the Eagles special teams. We’ll see how this plays over the next few days, and keep everybody updated.
