Jim Johnson is Drinking the Kool Aid

While many Eagles fans want major changes to this team, they probably shouldn’t hold their breath. The Eagles defense was last in the NFL in forcing turnovers(21). What did Johnson think about this group?

“I like what we have,” said Johnson “We were one or two games away from being a really good team in our division or one game away from being in the playoffs. That is what is disappointing. Toward the end, I thought we were as good as any team in the playoffs. I really feel that way.”

Joe Banner must be passing out the Kool Aid to the coaching staff!Kool Aid (igglephans.com) What’s that saying Bill Parcells used, “You are what your record says you are”. The Eagles finished 8-8. They are an average team that is missing the necessary pieces to win a Super Bowl.

I really hope that Johnson’s comments were just coach talk, because this team needs more play makers. The defense was not terrible, but you don’t go far in the NFL if you do not create turnovers. They need to go out, and get a game changer.

Johnson was not done with his praise of the defense. He went on to applaud the linebackers.

“There are a lot of things I like. I like the way our young linebackers played,” said Johnson. “Our linebackers are going to be good play makers and I like the way they play the run and the pass. That was probably the biggest thing I’ve seen over the last year or two. I have a lot of confidence in our linebackers getting better.”

The LBs were good against the run and better than past linebackers on this team, but they still did not make enough plays. all of the LBs combined finished the season with 3 sacks 2 Ints, and 1 FF. That’s pretty pathetic to finish the season with such low numbers.

Heck Dhani Stinkin Jones forced more fumbles on the Bengals than all of the Eagles LBs combined. Johnson better pray they get better.

Johnson finished off his praise of his defense by hyping up rookie DE Victor Abiamiri. Here is what he thought of Victor:

“I think you will see a big improvement there,” said Johnson, who compared Abiamiri’s style to that of New York’s Michael Strahan in that Abiamiri is a “big, physical” player, rather than a defensive end with the blazing speed of Cole off the edge. Johnson said Abiamiri is a “legitimate NFL defensive left end.”

I hope he is a ‘legitimate NFL defensive left end’, he was taken in the second round. I love when rookies get compared to great players, because it always sounds ridiculous. Abiamiri reminds you of Michael Strahan? Can the guy get a sack before we even mention his name with a Hall of Fame player? He may be great, but so far he reminds me of a Jerome McDougle type. So far he is another drafted DE who barely even plays.

Eagles fans beware. Joe Banner has released a crazy killing Kool Aid machine. Drink the Kool Aid or DIE!
