Howard Eskin was the first to report Clemons as a possible signing, and now Clemons own agent thinks a deal will get done.
Chris Clemons, who had eight sacks as a linebacker-defensive end for the Raiders last season, will sign with the Eagles today, agent Don Henderson said last night. “We’ll get it done,” Henderson predicted, as Clemons embarked on his first free-agent visit. “He can get to the quarterback, coming off the edge, which is what they said they want from him.”
I would really like this move. Clemons is not a big name, but 8 sacks in a backup role is very impressive. The Eagles have signed the prize FA CB Asante Samuel, and now look to bring in another pass rusher. Clemons won’t start, but he will get a lot of snaps, because the Eagles love to rotate defensive lineman.
Clemons is somewhat of a tweener DE/LB, and would probably have to bulk up a little bit to play defensive end regularly. With some experience at LB, I can see Clemons being used as the “joker” in some nickle situations.
At 26 years old, and very little mileage on him, Clemons should be a great change of pace pass rusher.

UPDATE! Clemons visit confirmed by PE.com. Press conference scheduled for 3:15.
UPDATE! Eagles officially sign Clemons for 5 years!
There was a much smaller press conference today for speed pass rushing defensive end Chris Clemens. Andy Reid walked to the podium with Clemens, and held up his number 50 jersey. Reid said that Clemens would be playing end(he played LB in the past), and seemed very happy to have him on board.
UPDATE! Clemons 5 year deal is worth $18.5 Million.
