I know I can be quirky, but I would think that any definition of an "ultimate weapon" involving a football player would involve, you know, winning. But maybe that’s just me. The entire time that song played I kept wanting to sing along. "They shut him down! Didn’t win a superbowl! They shut him down! Didn’t get the Lombarti!"
Lots of great players never won a championship. It’s not Randall’s fault that he played majority of his career with a coach who didn’t care about offense. When he went to Minnesota and was surrounded by great weapons, Cunningham put up one of the best seasons ever by any QB. That team missed going to a Super Bowl by a missed field goal.
Don’t you think you should know how to spell Lombardi by now? It’s even the name of one of our blogs.
I do indeed hang my head in shame over my spelling typo. I should know better. As for the other, I don’t dispute that Randall was a good, perhaps even great player. I just don’t think he’s the "Ultimate Weapon" because, well, ultimately he did get shut down for every year of his career. They shut him down! Shut him down shut him down!
and how many years have the redskins been shut down…
Three less times than your Eagles.
redskins guy, lets please keep the argument regarding the current century. man you guys love to throw that around. i mean, how old were you when the redskins won last? randall was a 3rd year pro then (i think). that was a long time ago. people shouldnt say that if their team has been completely irrelevant for almost 20 years.
amen
It’s funny that you criticize me for bringing up an event that happened while Cunningham was in the prime of his career. The Redskins won their last superbowl after Cunningham broke his leg. I don’t know if that’s three years into his career or more, but it was while he was an established presence and threat in the NFL. If you don’t want to talk about "ancient history" then don’t post on topics where the subject is centered around that time! Helloooo???
