Tight end L.J. Smith has signed the one year franchise tag offer, which guarantees him $4.5 million for this year.
“We’re glad to have L.J. back,” Reid said. “We expect him to have a Pro Bowl-caliber season for us.”
Everybody has been waiting years for L.J. to finally have a Pro Bowl-caliber season. At this point I think he is as good as he is going to ever be. Smith is a 2nd tier tight end who at times plays very solid. This could be a big step toward LJ getting a long term contract. We’ll see what happens during the next few weeks.
CB Joselio Hanson has also signed his 1 year tender. Hanson sounded excited to join his teammates in the off season workouts.
“I feel relieved. I can just get to work now,” Hanson said of his immediate job security. “ It’s time to work as hard as you can to get your body right for the season. This is hard work right now. This is grind time.”
Hanson has really improved his game since joining the team as an unrestricted free agent, and played very well last year.
It’s great to see both of these guys in camp, because now they are working out with the team and there won’t be any distractive hold outs.
Here is a video for all you LJ fans.
