April 15th, 2008 at 8:41 pmquestion for all you philly boys. why would the eagles, or iggles as you refer to them????, consider trading away shepard. i think he’s better then sammuel.
April 16th, 2008 at 6:25 amLove – I am sick of seeing the stinkin Lions on Thanksgiving. Hopefully the Iggles represent it well. I love the week 17 game too. Imagine both teams being 9-6 headed into that game?
Don’t worry about the link. Wordpress does that automatically anytime you have a word next to @. It thinks you are trying to make an email link.
dave – I am a big fan of Lito Sheppard, and I will be pretty upset to see him go. There is still a small chance he stays, but as the draft approaches it seems more likely that he will be gone.
Now you asked why would they get rid of him, and I will explain the Eagles logic. Lito has been injured 3 years in a row. During that time he has missed 13 games. Then it came out recently that Lito appraoched the Iggles front office, and asked for more money, even though they gave him a long term contract extension in 2004. So basically you have a guy who is can’t stay healthy, and is demanding more money. Plus now you add in Samuel to the mix, and Lito becomes somewhat expendable.
Samuel may not be as physically gifted as Lito, but he produces. He has 16 interceptions over the last 2 seasons(leads the NFL), and was the number 1 CB on three Super Bowl teams(2 Super Bowl Winners).
The best thing about Lito is he plays his best against the Cowboys. He has 11 career INTs vs Dallas, and 2 of them returned for TDs. He also pretty much shut down TO and Randy Moss last year, which we all know is near impossible to do.
I hope they keep Sheppard, but you know how the NFL is today. It is more a buisness than it used to be, and players move in and out constantly.
