DeSean Jackson Scouting Report

This is a quick scouting report from an ESPN “draft expert” Todd McShay before the draft on new Eagle WR DeSean Jackson. He really rips into Jackson when he says he will be a productive number 2 WR at best. McShay, like many others seem to have doubts about Jackson, because of his size.

I guess everybody has forgotten about another great small receiver from Carolina Steve Smith. It’s not always about size in the NFL, but about heart and dedication to being one of the best.

I hope DeSean hears all of these things said about him, and uses it as a motivational tool to become one of the best receivers in the NFL.

Jackson mau be a great returner but we could have had Limas Sweed who is a Roy Williams clone who we’re trying to get right now it just doesn’t make sense. Does it?

    Thanks for the comment Will.

I don’t agree with Sweed being a Roy Williams clone. Yes they are both big receivers from Texas, but I think that is where the comparison ends.

Everytime I watched Limas Sweed play, he had trouble getting open. Most of the time he would get very little or no separation, and would use his size to out jump or box out a db for the ball. I think in college that can work for you, but in the NFL that only gets you so far.

To me he reminds me of a player that is already on the Eagles roster. Hank Baskett.
