Joe Mays is a short stocky MLB who is known for his very physical play on the football field. Mays played at a small school, North Dakota State, but he dominated the competition there.
He is a big hitter, can shed blocks well, and despite average speed he is a tackling machine. On the Eagles will get a shot to battle it out with Pago Tagofu to be the teams backup MLB behind Stewart Bradley.
A good way for Mays to make this team, will be on special teams. He is is excellent in kick off coverage, and could wind up being a special teams captain one day.
Mays could have a similar role on the Birds that Ike Reese had for years. A great special teams player who is a solid reserve linebacker.
