I am a normal person and i had a sports hernia done by dr. meyers in philly. same doc as mcnabb.  Its actually called athletic pubalgia.  It wasnt a diagnosed injury ten years ago because this injury is so hard to diagnose.  I had to go to halfway across the country to have mine diagnosed and have surgery on.  I lived through the pain for 2 years, and let me tell you, it debilitated me.  I could not perform any sport activity at all because of the excruciating pain AZScott is an idiot. A regular hernia is when part of your  lower intestine breaks through your abdominal wall. A sports hernia is when you have small abdominal muscle tears and it could also involve your lower abdominal muscle being torn off of your pelvic bone. I am not a doctor, but this is how it has been explained to me by medical experts.
