I’m sure everyone already knows all the playoff scenarios, but just in case, here’s what needs to happen on Sunday for the Eagles to extend their season.
1) They must beat Dallas.
2) The Bucs have to lose at home to the Raiders.
3) The Bears have to lose at Houston,
4) Or if the Bears win, the Vikings must lose at home to the Giants.
Basically, there are two spots open. One will go to the NFC North champ, leaving four teams to battle for the last remaining Wild Card. If the Birds beat the ‘Boys, and the other two teams both lose, then they are in with a record of 9-6-1, while the other three would be out with records of 9-7. Simple, right?
Beating Dallas is difficult enough without all the other things that have to go down. The Eagles have only themselves to blame for this mess. 1-4 vs the NFC East! If they fall on Sunday, it’ll be 1-5. Combine that with 2007′s 2-4 mark and the Eagles would be 3-9 against divisional foes the last two seasons. Awful. You can’t make the playoffs if you’re not winning within the division. I don’t know much, but I do know that.
