With repeated success comes outside attention. Such is the case for Eagles’ GM Tom Heckert. According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Cleveland Browns will interview Heckert for their vacant GM position sometime in the next few days. Heckert has been with the Birds since 2001 but wasn’t awarded the title of GM until 2006. This past May he signed a contract extension through 2011.
This isn’t all that surprising since the Browns are interviewing everyone under the sun to fill their coaching and front office openings. The situation in Cleveland is a mess, but Heckert would probably assume more power than he has with the Eagles. After all, Andy Reid still has final word on all personnel matters.
