It Must Be McNabb’s Fault

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Free Agency, News, Random Thoughts | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Say it ain’t so. The sky has fallin. It’s a dark day. The end of an era. BRIAN DAWKINS IS NO LONGER AN EAGLE!! What the @#$%? How can they let the heart and soul of the team go? I’m so distraught. I need someone to blame. I know it’s not Reid‘s fault; he was at Pat’s downing a cheesesteak with provolone. It couldn’t have been Joe Banner; he was tied-up denying a secret meeting that never took place last week. What about Jeff Lurie? Nah. I know for a fact he was busy filling up his fleet of hybrids [...]

Dawkins is a Bronco

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, Free Agency, NFL | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Oops. I guess I posted too quickly. Alas, Brian Dawkins‘ is a Denver Bronco. Adam Schefter has reported Dawkins has inked a five-year, $17 million deal with the Broncos. Five years?? No wonder the Eagles weren’t interested. I love Dawk, but there is no way I’d give him that kind of deal. Apparently, the deal can be voided after two years, which seems likely. So, all the speculation is finally confirmed. I wish Dawkins good luck. He was a true warrior for the Birds and will be missed. But I’ve watched guys like Reggie White and Keith Jackson walk out [...]

Andrews Deal Is Done

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Free Agency, News, NFL | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Stacy Andrews is officially a Philadelphia Eagle. This morning he signed a six-year deal to become the Birds’ new right tackle. A month removed from surgery on his knee to repair a torn ACL and MCL, Andrews is reportedly on schedule to be ready for training camp. Let’s hope that’s the case. Is Andrews an upgrade over Jon Runyan? I think he is considering Runyan’s future is in doubt following microfracture surgery. The guy is only 27, so he adds some much-needed youth to the tackle position. Can he improve the run game? That remains to be seen, but he [...]

Lito Sheppard Traded to Jets; Dawkins update

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, Free Agency, NFL | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

Bye, bye Lito Sheppard. It took over a year, but it looks as if the Eagles have finally parted ways with their disgruntled cornerback. Adam Schefter (does this guy ever sleep?) is reporting a deal has been finalized to send Sheppard to the Jets for a 5th round pick this year and a conditional pick in 2010, which could be as high as a 2nd rounder. Two picks for Lito? Better than I expected from a guy who did nothing last year except get torched repeatedly for touchdowns. Maybe a change of scenery will do him some good. The Joselio [...]

Buckhalter gone; Dawkins NOT yet

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, Free Agency, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

NFL Network’s Adam Schefter, a former Broncos‘ insider, confirmed Correll Buckhalter signed with Denver. However, there is no deal done with Brian Dawkins. In fact, according to Schefter the two sides haven’t even met yet. They will either tonight or tomorrow. A “report” scrolling on an ESPN ticker does not constitute a confirmation. This isn’t to say that Dawkins won’t sign a deal, but he hasn’t inked anything today. As for Buck, I wish him nothing but luck. He should have an excellent chance to be the featured guy, at the very least he’ll get more carries than Andy Reid [...]

Dawkins a Bronco?

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, Free Agency, NFL | COMMENTS: 10 Comments

Reports are circulating that Brian Dawkins has signed with the Denver Broncos. Actually, it’s one report from a Raiders‘ writer. Could be true, but no legit source has confirmed this. What is confirmed, from Adam Schefter, is that the Broncos signed ex-Dolphins free safety Renaldo Hill to a four-year contract. Denver already has strong safety Marlon McCree on their roster. I’m not saying their isn’t room for Dawkins, but if the report is true he will likely move to strong safety, which at his age may be the best position for him. Now, does Brian want to change teams and [...]

Stacy Andrews To Visit Eagles

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, Free Agency | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

According to Dave Spadaro, Bengals free-agent tackle Stacy Andrews will be in town this afternoon. The reports are Andrews has already inked a deal and must pass a physical first. Andrews suffered a torn ACL late in the season, so I hope the guy is healthy. Apparently, the Birds were interested in Andrews last season before he was franchised. If the Eagles sign him, the plan is to have him play right tackle and be a support system for the often scatter-brained Shawn Andrews. We shall see what happens later today.

Rumor Mill Workin’ Overtime

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Free Agency, NFL, Rumors | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Free agency kicked-off about ten hours ago and still nothing concrete to report on the Eagles‘ front. Of course, this lack of activity means all we have to rely on is speculation. As we all know, that’s not very reliable. Here’s some of the whispers I’ve been hearing: T.J. Houshmandzadeh sent a text message to a Philly radio station. One guess what it said. The Eagles might be interested in another Bengal player. Two Bengals? Say it ain’t so. Could Torry Holt be an option? One Rams website says yes. ProFootballTalk.com is reporting Arizona defensive end Antonio Smith is on [...]

Who Has the Most Cap Space?

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Free Agency, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Free agency kicks off in a few short hours. NFL Network’s information guru Adam Schefter has released his latest cap numbers and the Eagles are in great shape. How great? Third best in the league with $48 million. Only the Bucs and Chiefs have more to spend. The Panthers are listed as having the least with only $1.9 million. This comes as no surprise considering the cash they had to shell out for Jordan Gross and Julius Peppers. Also of note, the Redskins – who are allegedly pursuing Albert Haynesworth – have only $8.1 million available. If Schefter’s figures are [...]

Free Agent Wasteland

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Free Agency, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Does anyone else think this year’s free-agent class is severely lacking? After the flurry of re-signings and franchise tags last week, the big names are all but off the table. There is a possibility some of the tagged players get dealt (Julius Peppers) or a guy under contract like Anquan Boldin is shipped elsewhere, but as far as actual free-agents available, the pickings are slim. The Eagles have been known to make a proverbial big splash come midnight on free agency eve. Jon Runyan, Jevon Kearse, Darren Howard and Asante Samuel are all examples of high dollar signings. When the [...]

Jets Release Laveranues Coles

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, News | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

According to the fellas at Pro Football Weekly, the Jets have parted ways with Laveranues Coles. Embroiled in a lengthy contract dispute the two sides could not reach an agreement. Coles wants to get paid. He’s 31 years old. Since he’s a wide receiver the rumors he’s heading to Philly have already begun. What do you guys think about Coles?

More McNabb Crap

AUTHOR: | IN: Draft, Eagles, News, NFL, Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’m sure you’ve all heard about or read Michael Smith’s ESPN article about the super-secret meeting between Eagles‘ brass and Donovan McNabb. According to Smith, this alleged meeting of the minds occurred last week. The rumors are Don gave management an ultimatum: get me help or get rid of me. If Don said that, I don’t blame him. Has any other legit starting QB in the NFL had less to work with in the last ten years? Of course, Andy Reid claimed over the weekend that no such sitdown had taken place. As usual, no one knows a damn thing. [...]
