Eagles Give Hanson a 5-year Deal

The Eagles have been quiet for the last few weeks, until last night. They locked down reserve cornerback Joselio Hanson with a 5-year, $21 million contract. Hanson came into his own during the 2008 season. He eventually replaced Lito Sheppard as the nickel back by mid-season.

I like this move because it gives the Eagles three solid starting-caliber corners with long-term contracts. It also spells the end of Sheppard’s time in Philadelphia. Sheppard whined about a new contract since last off-season and did nothing on the field to show he deserved one.

Expect Sheppard to be dealt between now and draft day. At this point, I’d say he’s worth maybe a 3rd or 4th round pick, probably in 2010, since the Eagles already have 10 picks this April. We shall see. So, what do you think about the Hanson re-signing?

Should the Eagles part ways with Harbor?
