Who Has the Most Cap Space?
Free agency kicks off in a few short hours. NFL Network’s information guru Adam Schefter has released his latest cap numbers and the Eagles are in great shape. How great? Third best in the league with $48 million. Only the Bucs and Chiefs have more to spend.
The Panthers are listed as having the least with only $1.9 million. This comes as no surprise considering the cash they had to shell out for Jordan Gross and Julius Peppers. Also of note, the Redskins – who are allegedly pursuing Albert Haynesworth – have only $8.1 million available. If Schefter’s figures are correct, I can’t see how they can land Haynesworth unless they start dumping salary.
At any rate, the Birds have the ammo to land a big fish if they so choose. Whether they will or not is anybody’s guess.
