Stacy Andrews is officially a Philadelphia Eagle. This morning he signed a six-year deal to become the Birds’ new right tackle. A month removed from surgery on his knee to repair a torn ACL and MCL, Andrews is reportedly on schedule to be ready for training camp. Let’s hope that’s the case.
Is Andrews an upgrade over Jon Runyan? I think he is considering Runyan’s future is in doubt following microfracture surgery. The guy is only 27, so he adds some much-needed youth to the tackle position. Can he improve the run game? That remains to be seen, but he clearly has the size at 6’7″, 345 pounds.
This is the Eagles first move in free-agency. More are sure to follow. The Lito Sheppard deal should be completed by the end of the day.
No further word on Brian Dawkins as of 2:00pm today. My feeling is he received an offer and has notified the Eagles to give them the chance to match it or better it. I don’t believe this is a money issue for Dawkins. I think it has more to do with years. If the Broncos are willing to give him a two-year contract it seems unlikely the Birds will match. I still think Dawk wants to finish his career an Eagle, so he probably has some serious soul searching to do today and possibly tomorrow. Whatever he decides I’m sure will be the best decision for Brian.
In other NFL news. The Chiefs have apparently traded for Matt Cassel. It will be interesting to see what they gave up to get him. He’s young and could be a keeper, but the names Scott Mitchell and Rob Johnson come to mind when I hear Cassel’s name. It just goes to show you how important a serviceable quarterback is to a team’s success.
Right now it’s quiet on the Eagles front. If things get noisy, I’ll be back.

Freak - Don't believe anything the Bengals fans say. They are just bitter because they are Bengals fans. The only thing I know about Stacy is he pushed around Justin Tuck last season and didn't allow a sack. If you remember, the Bengals almost won that game.
IF his knee is fine, I think he will be an improvement.
