Oops. I guess I posted too quickly. Alas, Brian Dawkins‘ is a Denver Bronco. Adam Schefter has reported Dawkins has inked a five-year, $17 million deal with the Broncos. Five years?? No wonder the Eagles weren’t interested. I love Dawk, but there is no way I’d give him that kind of deal. Apparently, the deal can be voided after two years, which seems likely.
So, all the speculation is finally confirmed. I wish Dawkins good luck. He was a true warrior for the Birds and will be missed. But I’ve watched guys like Reggie White and Keith Jackson walk out the door. It’s a cliche, but it really is part of the business. Onward and upward. Now the Birds must find a replacment – on the field – for Dawk. Is Quintin Demps ready? Or will they go after someone like James Sanders? Stay tuned.

The terms of that offer have not been disclosed but they did offer him the length he desired. And it is not unreasonable to expect a home-town discount if you are the Eagles front office. It was Brian Dawkins that made the choice to fly the coup for greener pastures (or in this case oranger). I don’t begrudge him for making that choice; he is a smart businessman that made a business decision. [...]
