A Mexican Mock Draft
My muchachos over at footballburrito.com invited me to participate in a 1st round Mock Draft this week. I was more than happy to don my GM cap and proudly represent my beloved Eagles. Being the only representative with two picks, I had to study twice as hard.
Now, I tried to draft the way I think the FO should and will pick, but we all know predicting what they’ll actually do on draft day is next to impossible. At any rate, I followed the board and selected two players who I believe can provide immediate help.
I was also offered the following trade, which I turned down after serious consideration. The Browns acquired Chicago’s 18th pick and offered it to me along with Braylon Edwards for both of my first round selections. I passed on Edwards’ piss-poor attitude and his hands of stone. Some may disagree, but I suggest you reserve judgment until you see who I was able to land.
I tried to leave my personal feelings out of the equation. For example, I didn’t draft Chris Wells, even though he was available. I realize he doesn’t fit the Reid offense, but I still like him.
Here’s the link to the mock. Feel free to bash me on my selections. One note: all of the elite tackles were gone by pick 21.

I would kiss you on your sweet, sweet mouth if the draft shook out this way, though I think it’s very possible they would pass on Moreno for Mack or Laurenitis (especially Mack) and trade up for Donald Brown or LeSean McCoy in the second.
March 9th, 2009 at 8:48 amPlease please please give me Brandon Pettigrew and Knowshon Moreno!!!!
March 9th, 2009 at 9:25 amThanks, Tracer… I think? I doubt the Birds are looking at Laurenitis. I’m seeing him slip on a lot of draft boards. Didn’t have a great combine. Not as good as AJ Hawk. As for Mack? The only reason I say maybe is because he’s an O-Lineman. Although, I think Reid and Co. are pleased with Jamaal.
March 9th, 2009 at 10:09 amI think you can make an arguement that any of these three scenarios would be great for our team.
-If we could land Braylon and the 18th overall pick for our 2 first rounders, and then take pettigrew, moreno, mack or trade down I would be happy.
-If we land Pettigrew and Moreno I will be very happy.
-If we take Pettigrew and Mack and trade up for Brown or Mccoy I will be happy.
However, I think the last scenario is most likely.
March 9th, 2009 at 1:25 pmMcCoy could be their guy at 28. I like Andre Brown from NC State more than Donald Brown. Andre should be around at 53, if they don’t take RB in the 1st round.
William Beatty, the tackle from UCONN, could be available at 53 as well.
March 9th, 2009 at 2:02 pmHey, thank YOU, Scott. You gotta purty mouth.
I doubt they’d go after Laurenitis. My thinking was that he’d represent too much value to pass up at that point. With the RBs left on the board in this draft, I really do think they’d go for Mack. They’ve been terrible in short yardage for two years now and a good part of that falls on Jackson.
