Onward and upward. Chris and Anthony have fired back this beauty:
In reverse of your question, what player has not been linked to the Eagles in mock drafts that you think might be on the Eagles’ radar?
Best question so far. I like this one because I get the opportunity to look really smart if I’m right. This means I have no shot of getting it correct. However, that doesn’t mean I’m not willing to climb out on a limb and pull a name from the hat of prospects.
Drum roll, please…. Virginia linebacker Clint Sintim. I have not seen or heard his name associated with the Eagles in any publication or mock draft. As far as I know, the Eagles have not invited him to Philly for a visit or attended his pro day. So, why do I think Sintim might be on the Birds’ radar?
First, it is the one position, other than quarterback, that none of the pundits believe the Eagles will pursue. They have plenty of young backers already and appear to be fixed at the position. That being said, Chris Gocong hasn’t exactly proved to be dominant at the SAM. At present, there is not an adequate backup to Gocong on the roster. Sorry, Tank Daniels is not enough.
Andy Reid loves competition. Sintim is an impact playmaker who excels at getting to the quarterback. He’s physical and plays with loads of energy. A four-year starter at Virginia, Sintim finished his career with 27 sacks and led the country in linebacker sacks as a senior with 11. Since I like the guy, he won’t be an Eagle, but I’m not convinced Reid is totally satisfied with what he has at linebacker.
Okay, last question for today goes to me. Here it is:
Most of the draft buzz in Eagles Nation has surrounded the running back position. Give me the name of a sleeper running back you think would fit the Eagles’ offensive scheme?
Head on over to Heard in the Cheap Seats for their reply. It’s been a fun first day of Draft Q&A. We’ll pick it up again tomorrow with more scintillating discussion. Until then….
