Mike Missanelli went head-to-head yesterday on his radio show with former Cowboys beat writer and current ESPN talking head Skip Bayless. I’ve never liked Skip. He’s one of those guys who spews so-called controversial soundbites for the sake of being controversial. Oh, and he’s always trashed the city of Philadelphia and its fans whenever he gets the opportunity.
Evidently, Skip was talking on First Take about the Dallas Mavericks fans who were acting like fools a couple nights ago. I don’t watch the NBA anymore, so I don’t know much about what went down, although I think it had something to do with this. At any rate, Skip used the platform to once again hammer Philly by referring to the events in Dallas as “Philly-style” behavior.
Missanelli took umbrage with Skip’s insult and asked him to clarify what he meant. What ensued was a good old-fashioned peeing contest between the two. It’s pretty entertaining stuff. Here’s the link to the audio.
Missanelli said the bad reputation attached to Philly fans has been overblown by media types like Bayless. Poor lil’ Skip felt “afraid” when he would come to Philadelphia to cover the ‘Boys back in the day. What the hell was he so scared of? It’s not like he was sitting in the 700 level. The guy was in the press box.
Bayless has had a long, successful career in journalism, but he hasn’t attended a Philly sporting event in over ten years. The Vet is long gone, Skip. The crazy, drunk, destructive fans are still out there, but their numbers are fading. Go to an Eagles game this season, Skip. I think you’ll be surprised how times have changed.

I love how that idiot Bayless plays the “holier than thou” card by pretending to not know who he was talking to. What a chump. Also, he calls Mike a “shock jock”, which is EXACTLY what Skip is on ESPN. I’ve come to accept that people outside of this city think we are all savages, whatever makes them scared to come into the Linc is fine with me.
Agreed. Bayless used to be a credible writer. Now he’s nothing more than an ESPN character who bitches and moans to appear relevant. I’m glad Missanelli put him in his place.
Skip said he sat in horror and fear for his life when he was at the vet….wouldn’t you just leave if that was the case. I guess getting the most out of a $40 ticket outweighs living through the game….what a douche. Try wearing a Red Sox hat to the bronx and talk to me about fear.
