Broken Record

The offseason accolades just keep pouring in for the Eagles. Alex Marvez from FOXSports.com handed the Birds his highest grade for the shrewd moves orchestrated by the Front Office.

“Even this team’s notoriously grumpy fan base can’t gripe after this stellar offseason.”

Hold on there, Alex. We can still complain. We’re Philly fans, bud.

Marvez also trashed the Redskins offseason and referred to the DeAngelo Hall re-signing as the worst. I agree. Hall has always been overrated.

He then went on to call T.O. to the Bills the best free agent signing.

“Owens has looked outstanding in Buffalo’s offseason program and appears motivated to prove Dallas made a mistake with his release.”

I feel sorry for Bills fans. Guys like Marvez are helping to dupe them into believing Mr. Me will be an angel. Trent Edwards has no offensive line in front of him and his top running back will miss the first three games. Yeah, things will be great between he and Owens. Gulp.

The Iggles start a two week OTA today. Hopefully, there will be some interesting stuff to discuss. Fingers crossed.

My point is this: Is Edwards capable of doing what Owens wants? The guy is not Garcia, McNabb or Romo. He's an average quarterback. Can TO make him better? I'm not so sure at his age. He slowed down a lot near the end of last season.

Honestly? I think Owens will be good. He's fine when he's clearly subordinate (Young) or clearly superior (early Romo, early Garcia). He can't handle deferring to a QB who is roughly equal in stature. Guys like McNabb or Romo last year have enough standing to challenge and/or ignore Owens, but they can't point to two Super Bowl rings to make him shut up. Edwards is likely to do exactly what Owens wants, so Owens will be happy.
