Which Eagles Deserve New Deals?

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles | COMMENTS: 2 Comments |

Florio over at PFT wrote a post last week about some players he feels are worth reworked contracts and some who aren’t. The names Sheldon Brown and Shawn Andrews were discussed. Florio is of the opinion that Andrews is more deserving, due in large part to his shift to right tackle.

He makes a good point, but I think we should take the “wait and see” approach to Andrews’ new position, and more importantly, his new state of mind. If the Big Kid proves he’s ready to recommit himself to the game and displays the necessary skill-set to excel at right tackle, then we can talk about adjusting his current contract (which runs through 2015).

If anyone warrants a new deal, I would make the cases for both Quintin Mikell and Stewart Bradley, provided both continue to play at an All-Pro level. Both guys are leading candidates to fill the leadership void vacated by Dawkins, and each is quickly becoming the best at their respective positions.

Any other Eagles worth a new deal?

Is Kevin Kolb a viable trade candidate? The boys at PFW seem to think he might be should Donny get his new deal. Their logic is sound, but unless Kolb sees significant game action during the season (not mop-up duty), I can’t imagine anyone would want him.

I'm with you on Bradley, but I do think he's on his way to great career. Herremans is interesting. Let's see if he raises his game playing next to Peters.

Mikell, certainly. I need to see another 2008 out of Bradley before giving him a big raise. Maybe Jackson, assuming he keeps his job, or Herremens.
