Signings, Cuts and Quotes

Cornelius Ingram made it official today and inked a four-year contract.

Adam Caplan from Scout.com also reported three players were released. Quarterback Adam DiMichele, running back Walter Mendenhall and defensive tackle Amon Gordon, who ruptured his Achilles tendon last month.

Mike Sielski from PhillyBurbs.com posted an article on Lorenzo Booker. Man, Booker is a popular guy to interview. I imagine Westbrook‘s injury has a little something to do with that. Anyway, a couple quotes/anecdotes stood out for me.

Booker took umbrage with the notion that he can’t be effective, but he wasn’t bitter:

“It’s like my son. He’s not potty-trained. I’m not going to be mad if he pees himself. You can’t be mad at somebody who just doesn’t know. Over time, they will.”

Points for LoBo. It’s not often you hear a player slip potty training into the conversation.

Booker is also a fan of Warrick Dunn (who has been linked to the Eagles). Sielski recounts this gem about Booker’s interest in Dunn’s book:

“The story engrossed Booker, so much so that Eagles running backs coach Ted Williams once chastised him for reading the book during a team meeting.”

Uhm…

Here’s my advice for LoBo: Reading a book during a team meeting will not ingratiate you with the fans, or help your cause to become more than third-string bench warmer. Read the book on your own time, Lorenzo. You need as much help as you can get to earn a roster spot.

Ironically, I don’t think Warrick Dunn – known for being the utmost professional and team player – would be caught reading anything other than the playbook during a meeting. That’s probably the reason why he’s had a long, successful career.
