Could Hollis Thomas be on his way back to Philly? According to GCobb.com, yes.

One last (hopefully) word on Donovan’s new contract. He, like every other player, can be cut at any point. There is no such thing as a guaranteed contract in the NFL, only guaranteed money. I thought this was a known fact, but lately, I’m beginning to wonder.

Otis “My Man” Smith is no longer a member of the coaching staff. Honestly, I forgot he was on it in the first place. Anyway, good luck to Otis. I’m sure Belichick will find a spot for him.

From PE.com. Cornerback Trae Williams assesses the Birds receivers. No offense, but Trae Williams? I’d rather read what Asante and Sheldon think about the pass catchers. Too bad both decided to skip the OTAs. Oh, well.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Hollis Thomas. He’s funny and this team lacks for locker room comedians. (I still laugh when I see that clip of Trot rallying the troops during pregame saying, “Where else would you rather be?” And Hollis shoots back, “I’d rather be fishing.”) That said, what does Thomas offer besides chuckles? He’s not taking one of the top three spots, he’s not going to rush the passer next to Howard in the nickle, he’s not likely to keep a job unless they keep five DTs and why not keep Jackson in that case, who is more likely to contribute on special teams? Is this just a precursor to a coaching job?
I agree about Thomas. The guy didn’t look very good in New Orleans and I think (not 100%) he had injury problems. Personally, I’d take Klecko at this point. Before that whole position shift debacle last season, the dude was mashing as D-Tackle.
