I haven’t played Madden in a few years, so I’m not the best person to judge its merits. The latest and greatest version, Madden 2010, is due to be released August 14th. I spent the night perusing YouTube for demos and trailers to see what all the hype was about. Most of the them I could care less about, but the ones featuring the Eagles did catch my eye.
Here’s a promo dedicated to the best division in football. The NFC Beast:
Things that make sense:
- Westbrook running roughshod on the Giants. He owns Big Blue.
- Jacobs running roughshod on the Cowboys. Dude is a like a runaway steamroller.
- McNabb getting crushed by Albert Haynesworth. It will happen at least twice this season.
- DJax carving up the ‘Skins. Mark it down, bitches.
Things that don’t make sense:
- Stacy Andrews at right tackle? Oops.
- Eli breaking free for a long run. In what world does this occur? Madden’s world.
- Romo throwing a touchdown in the December snow. Fantasy not reality, folks.

Things that make sense:
- The annoying presence of corporate sponsors all over the screen. Sad, but true.
- Maclin making a nice gainer on a crossing route. Should be one of his bread and butter plays.
- Don holding the ball too long, getting pummeled on a corner blitz, and fumbling. Seems about right.
Things that don’t make sense:
- Cris Collinsworth calling Roy Williams one of the most talented receivers in the NFL. I needed a good laugh.
- Nick Folk not booting the opening kickoff out of bounds. Totally inaccurate.
- Romo tossing a touchdown to Patrick Crayton. Maybe Witten, but not Crayton.
Overall, Madden ‘10 looks pretty good. I have no idea if the actual gameplay blows or not. I’ve got an XBOX 360 collecting dust in my entertainment center. Might be time to bust it out again. Need to hone my skills. Never know when an unkempt gamer will issue a Madden Challenge. Obviously, I can’t pass up the chance to deliver a serious beatdown, Madden style.

I heard it is really a good game. I wish i could afford to buy my own copy but im stuck in this long term phone contract. Once i get out of this contract, i am going to buy a prepaid phone from tracfone and start spending excess money on my passion, video games.
