Time to move on after yesterday’s sad news. The Eagles are planning a tribute for JJ that I am confident will be fitting to who he was as a coach and a man. Stay tuned for more on that.
As for today, only one practice this morning for the rooks and select vets. Tonight, the rest of the team will arrive at Lehigh. Friday’s full squad, full contact sessions can’t get here fast enough. That’s when we’ll be able to gauge how good the youngsters really are.
- Maclin, like 27 other first-rounders, is a no show. Again, I continue to suspect this could be a prolonged absence. I hear/read chatter that agents are asking for exotic contracts due to the possibility of an uncapped 2010 season. If that’s the case, we could be waiting on JMac for some time.
- Brandon Gibson suffered an undisclosed injury yesterday and didn’t practice this morning.
- Great post workout interview with Shady McCoy over at PE.com. He talked about looking up to Barry Sanders as a kid and even recounted crying as a lil’ tyke when Sanders retired. Humble as ever, he also claimed Lorenzo Booker was the #2 back. I like LeSean. He says the right thing, even when it’s wrong.
- Jack Iguana eats bacon/egg/cheese sandwiches for breakfast and enjoys watching Lost. The former give me heartburn, but I’m with him on Lost. Is Juliette still alive? Did the survivors prevent the crash of Oceanic Flight 815? So many questions.
- Hugh Douglas and Spuds chatted it up during 7-on-7 drills. Douglas really likes the way Shady moves.

if gibson’s injury is serious enough to keep him out a few weeks, it could be a blessing in disguise. The birds could stash him on IR until next year while they sort out their crowded wr situation
Good point, bula. He sounds like a guy that wouldn’t clear waivers, so placing him on the practice squad might not be an option.
