Lots to get to, so no dilly-dallying.
- Eagles officially announce signings of both Matt Wilhelm and Jason Babin.
- Team also released WR Marcus Thigpen, DB Courtney Robinson and DT Jervonte Jackson.
- Maclin is in Philly. Will meet with media at 2:45pm today. Should be at practice tomorrow.
- Jason Peters sat out the morning practice. Don’t know why. Hopefully, it’s not a setback with his quad.
- Where in the world is… Shawn Andrews? No one seems to know.
- No update on Ellis Hobbs (stinger), who was the other guy hurt during Flight Night. Since it’s “injury” related, Reid likely won’t address it.
- Asante Samuel did his best Big Red impression when he spoke (yes, he spoke) to the media. He scolded the beat reporters, with tongue firmly in cheek, for inquiring about his hamstring. Good stuff.
- I am a Leonard Weaver fan. The guy balls and may have a future in broadcasting. Great personality.
- The #1 offense – without Peters and Shawn – struggled in he red zone versus the #2 defense. Not good.
- Shady continues to make plays. I just hope he isn’t worn out by September. With Westy out, he’s getting a ton of reps.
- Sean Jones makes plays. With Stew gone, his role may increase as an in-the-box safety on third downs. Something to keep an eye on.
- Joe Mays continues to get the majority of reps at MIKE. Wilhelm is expected to compete with him.
- Omar is still backing up at WIL, and sliding into the MIKE in nickel situations. At the point, it doesn’t look like Gaither is the first choice in the middle. Somewhat surprising.
- Scratch Bradley off the list of players due a contract extension. He seemed like a prime candidate to get a new deal during the season, but I would guess his knee will cause the FO to hold off.
- Domo over at Eagletarian smashed Reid’s ridiculous injury policy. According to league policy, NFL assistants are allowed to address the media in regard to injuries. Here’s a snippet:
The NFL says [Juan] Castillo, who has been an Eagles assistant since 1995 and has been Reid’s offensive line coach since he arrived in Philadelphia, can talk to the media about these things. The rules in the league’s media access policy say so. But Reid apparently has decided he doesn’t have to abide by those rules. Yet, he somehow thinks we should abide by his rules.
ZINGGGGGG!!! Point for the beat writers. Sorry, Andy.

I like your line of thinking, Rich. However, considering how awful the offense was last year in the red zone, I cringe when I see them fail to get the ball across the goal line against "inferior" players.
