I posted on Monday that Max Jean-Gilles has his own blog. You can find it at www.mjg62.com. He’ll be bloggin’ the upcoming season, so be sure to check it out to get the big man’s thoughts. Despite being smack dab in the middle of training camp two-a-days, Max was gracious enough to grant ITI an interview. Max is cool like that. A special thanks to Max, and to Todd Schmerler from playerpress.com for setting this up.

Without further ado, here’s my one-on-one with Max Jean-Gilles:

What was the rehab process like for the injury you sustained last season?

The rehab process has been a very long and painful process. There were times when I had to be mentally tough because I didn’t think that I was gonna recover fast enough and be ready to play for this season.

I see you’re rotating at both guard positions. What are the differences between the two as far as technique? Do you prefer one over the other?

There is no difference between the sides. To me the only difference is the stance that I am in. I played both sides since high school and throughout college so it is easy for me to go to both sides. I prefer the right side because I am right handed and its more comfortable for me.

The offensive line has undergone a lot of changes since last season. How does that affect the continuity?

We aren’t losing a step at all; it actually feels better because everyone on the line is young and around the same age so we all are comfortable with each other. We all can relate to a lot of things.

From a player’s perspective, how loud does Lincoln Financial Field get? Can you really feed off the energy from the crowd?

Our stadium gets pretty loud. Sometimes it depends on who we play because the fans have certain teams in the NFC that they hate, so you can tell by the decibel level in the stadium. I love our fans because they make the hairs on my body rise, so they are our 12th man.

Finally, your Georgia Bulldogs lost a lot of firepower to the NFL. Do you still like their chances in a loaded SEC this year?

The bulldogs know how to recruit so we are in good shape. We don’t believe in having a rebuilding year, we believe in having a better year than the previous and setting standards even higher every year.

He worked hard in rehab, can play both guard spots, feels the O-line is progressing nicely, loves playing at The Linc and is confident his Dawgs will be fine in ‘09. Thanks, Max. Great job.

I don’t often get the opportunity to interview one of my beloved Iggles, so I appreciate Max giving me the time. Please remember to stop by MJG 62 during the season for Max’s updates. Also, pay a visit to playerpress.com for plenty of sports news and player blogs.
