Via PE.com’s Bloghead, the Eagles have inked rookie free agent tight end Rob Myers and released punter Ken Parrish. Myers, from Utah State, is 6’4″, 243 lbs. He missed all of his senior season with a turf toe injury which required surgery. Just what they need, more damaged goods. Here’s what draftcountdown.com says about Myers:
Has major health and durability issues…Just average size and bulk…Is not very strong or physical…Sub par blocker…Didn’t face a lot of top competition…Doesn’t have much experience…Wasn’t real productive.
Not exactly the second coming of Jason Witten. At least, for now, the Birds can lean on Brent Celek. So much for all those exotic double tight end sets in the red zone, though. This is why I hate, hate, hate, winning the “Best offseason” award. Inevitably, it comes back to bite your team squarely on the ass.
I could roll out the “overcoming challenges” and “great teams persevere” speeches, but let’s get real. The NFC is loaded. The NFC East is more loaded. There’s only so much one team can endure.

Hey jackass, looks like Rob Myers is here to stay. He had better receiving numbers than Jeremy Maclin last night and picked up his blocking assignment every time. The Eagles obviously knew what they were doing when they signed him, so if you truly support your team, you should support Rob Myers as well.
