Thankfully, Eagles training camp ’09 ends tomorrow. Maybe heading back to Philly is the remedy for this beat-up team. One can only hope. Today was, well, another typical day:
- Both Kevin Kolb and Trent Cole left the field with injuries. Kolb twisted his knee and Cole sprained a shoulder. One, and only one, report speculated Kolb tore his ACL. There has been no confirmation from any legit source, yet. This afternoon’s MRI is said to be “precautionary.” Cole should be okay. He was moving the arm/shoulder after practice.
- Donovan finally met the media, although he made them wait a bit. On purpose? Uh… I think you know. He didn’t have much to say. Likes the team’s chances, is confident in the young guys, etc., etc.
- Brandon Gibson continues to have a nice camp. Barring a trade or surprise roster cut, I’m not sure he can make the team.
- Macho Harris isn’t the same since his ankle sprain. A step slow. Getting beat consistently in 1-on-1 drills.
- Jason Peters is a monster. He envelopes pass rushers, and has very nimble feet. Can’t wait to see him in game action.
- Interesting to watch Juan Castillo work with both Stacy and Winston. Like it or not fans, they are the starting right side on this line, for now. Justice continues to receive praise from coaches and players. They could be stroking his ego, but so far he does not resemble the stiff we have all grown to hate.
- Maclin used a fantastic stutter-step move to blow by Iguana. Too bad Feeley‘s toss was just out of reach. Would have been the highlight of the day.
- DeSean was held out of workouts today. Good. I don’t want to see him touch turf again until he’s 100%.
- Akers was seen doing punts. I guess Sav needed a break since he’s the only punter in camp.
- Mornhinweg was clearly perturbed with the offensive performance the last few days. Balls on the ground and general sloppy play. I think a wall has been hit.

Unless a team suffers some major QB injuries, I think Vick will be sidelined until next year. Just too big a distraction. However, a buddy of mine insists the Jags will sign him.
I agree, bula. Reid will not keep six wideouts. However, there is rumbling about a potential trade for a tight end, which might involve a receiver like Brown or Baskett. Then there would be room to Gibson. If he plays well in preseason games, I doubt Gibson would clear waivers to make it to the practice squad.
