Matt Nagy: Eagles QB or Action Movie Star?

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Entertainment, NFL, Training Camp | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Eagles didn’t take long in finding another signal caller to fill out their depleted roster after Kevin Kolb suffered an MCL sprain. Coaching intern and former Arena League quarterback Matt Nagy was pegged by Reid and Heckert to serve as exhibition game tackling dummy until Big Kev’s boo boo heals. So, who exactly is Matt Nagy? Have no fear Iggles fans, I’ve got the lowdown. I dusted off my investigative reporter hat and dug into the past of this mystery man named Nagy. You may be shocked at my findings, but I stand by the evidence uncovered. It is [...]

Kevin Kolb Did NOT Tear His ACL

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL, Training Camp | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Maybe the Eagles luck is slowly turning. Despite a few bogus reports,(you know who you are) backup quarterback Kevin Kolb did not shred his ACL this morning. Whew! Of course, I realize there are a few haters out there who wish he did (you know who you are). Alas, poor Kev suffered a sprained MCL. He will miss Thursday’s preseason opener against the Patriots. When he’ll return is anybody’s guess. Trent Cole will also sit out with an AC joint sprain in his shoulder. No timetable for his return, except the standard day-to-day spiel. As insurance for Kolb, the Birds [...]

Eagles Camp Notes: August 10th

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL, Training Camp | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Thankfully, Eagles training camp ’09 ends tomorrow. Maybe heading back to Philly is the remedy for this beat-up team. One can only hope. Today was, well, another typical day: – Both Kevin Kolb and Trent Cole left the field with injuries. Kolb twisted his knee and Cole sprained a shoulder. One, and only one, report speculated Kolb tore his ACL. There has been no confirmation from any legit source, yet. This afternoon’s MRI is said to be “precautionary.” Cole should be okay. He was moving the arm/shoulder after practice. – Donovan finally met the media, although he made them wait [...]

Eagles Camp Notes: August 9th

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL, Random Thoughts, Training Camp | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

It needs to rain every day at Lehigh. No contact work today due to slick field conditions. Thus, no one suffered a catastrophic injury. Yay!!! Don’t worry, there’s always tomorrow. – Reid finally mentioned the name Stewart Bradley. It only took a week. Stew will have surgery on Tuesday to repair his torn ACL. Let’s hope he’s not using the same surgeon who botched Ingram‘s procedure. – Speaking of tight ends. Why not give Daniel Wilcox a call? He’s a good in-line blocker and a serviceable red zone threat. Hey, bringing him in for a look can’t hurt. However, I [...]

Eagles Sign Some Guy Named Rob Myers

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL, Training Camp | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Via PE.com’s Bloghead, the Eagles have inked rookie free agent tight end Rob Myers and released punter Ken Parrish. Myers, from Utah State, is 6’4″, 243 lbs. He missed all of his senior season with a turf toe injury which required surgery. Just what they need, more damaged goods. Here’s what draftcountdown.com says about  Myers: Has major health and durability issues…Just average size and bulk…Is not very strong or physical…Sub par blocker…Didn’t face a lot of top competition…Doesn’t have much experience…Wasn’t real productive. Not exactly the second coming of Jason Witten. At least, for now, the Birds can lean on [...]

Cornelius Ingram Tears His ACL, Again

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL, Training Camp | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

If I wasn’t busy banging my head against the desk, I would be laughing at how the 2009 season is slowly and painfully being flushed down the toilet before our very eyes. According to PE.com, Cornelius Ingram has re-torn his left ACL; the same one he tore last August while at Florida. Gee. Think this is why the guy slipped into the fifth round? This is beyond disappointing. Obviously for the Eagles, but more so for Ingram. His career is in jeopardy. It does make you wonder if the original surgery was botched. Very rarely does a player tear the [...]

DeSean Jackson Goes Down

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

Training Camp 2009 cannot end soon enough. The Nightmare at Lehigh continued this morning when DeSean Jackson crumpled to the ground with what the team is calling a hyperextended knee. Now, this is the same team that has yet to declare Stew out for the season. Hell, they haven’t even admitted he has a torn ACL. For all we know, he too hyperextended his knee. Believe what you want, but they are developing serious trust issues. In other distressing news, Cornelius Ingram had an MRI on his surgically repaired knee. Great. So much for it just being “swollen.” Even Dave [...]

Lincin’ on a Friday

AUTHOR: | IN: Entertainment, NFL, Off-Topic/Other, Video | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Time to take another trip across the sports blogosphere. Sergio Garcia may have had an ulterior motive in nailing a spectator with his drive. (Intentional Foul) Nothing good ever comes when a couple drunk, shirtless morons start wrastlin’. (Josh Q.Public) Florida State needs a new President. How about T-Pain? (Bootlegger Sports) Here’s a surprise. Jay Cutler is talkin’ smack about Broncos fans. (Predominantly Orange) Michael Crabtree is an idiot. In case you weren’t aware, read this. (Niner Noise) Here’s one of those dirt bike wrecks from X-Games 2009. (Outside the Boxscore) Beware these first-round picks when prepping for your Fantasy [...]

Eagles Rap Video From 1988

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Entertainment, NFL, Video | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

No practice today as the Eagles remember Jim Johnson. It’s been a crazy week at Lehigh. Most of the news was of the bad variety, so I thought I’d lighten the mood a little. My pal Sean sent me the following video. Brace yourselves. If you remember this classic disaster from the always interesting Buddy Ryan era, consider yourself lucky. If it’s new to you, then you’re in for a treat. Enjoy. My favorite verse: “I make my living busting spleens.” And how about the late great Jerome Brown sporting the Michael Jackson “Thriller” look? Nothing but cringe-inducing goodness. Don’t [...]

Eagles Attempted to Trade for Derrick Burgess

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

Ex-Eagle Derrick Burgess is now an ex-Raider after being dealt to the Patriots for a 3rd in ’10 and a 5th round pick in 2011. According to Adam Schefter via Twitter, the Birds were also interested in acquiring his services: The two teams in on Burgess all along were the Eagles and Pats. Eagles were offering a 3rd-round pick and a player. Pats offer trumped it. If this information is accurate, it seems clear that Reid and Co. are not pleased with their defensive end rotation. Victor Abiamiri continues to be side-lined with another injury and Juqua Parker just got [...]

Eagles Camp Notes: August 6th

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL, Training Camp | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Dare I say, a quiet day at Eagles camp. No blown-out knees or arrests. Nice. – The offensive line is still a mess. JP not practicing. Stacy was held out, although he’s reportedly okay. Shawn continues to be MIA. Apparently, he’s getting “better.” We’ve heard this before, haven’t we? – Joe Mays finds the ball and zeroes in on it. Guy is always mixed up in the action. I would expect teams to throw at him on first and second downs. His coverage skills are suspect. – I’m approaching broken record status, but Avant continues to impress. He dominated a [...]
