Shawn Andrews Ruled OUT For Sunday

Posted by: Scott Tunstall

According to Reid himself, Shawn Andrews has been scratched from Sunday’s game versus the Panthers. I am officially done talking about Andrews. He has a bad back and can’t be counted on. If he ever plays again, great. If not, I just don’t give a @#$%.

For better or worse, the Winston Justice era begins now.

Is it time to just cut our losses with this guy. Two days ago he was saying his back was great. Maybe he should stop rapping and start rehabbing. Jon Runyan will be an Eagle next Monday.

long live the jon runyan era. let’s let the guy who wants to play, play

  3. 3. Marc Says:

Its a shame (sham) that Dawkins wasn’t given Andrews salary instead of wasting it on a big fat kid.. you think he would’ve stayed then?
Still, andrews has to go. along with Reggie Brown.
2 more roster spots, 1 to bring back Amendola. 1 for Tony Curtis.
I think i should be in charge of the personel on the field instead of Andy Ried!
    ;-)

    please Winston….just don’t suck

  5. 5. Mr. Media Says:

Unreal. Shawn Andrews has zero heart. If he would spend more time getting in shape/rehabbing and less time acting a fool on you tube, he’d be playing.

  6. 6. Eric Says:

Dump Reggie to bring in another receiver? No, thanks. Even if Amendola was on this team, he’d probably not even dress. I doubt Gibson or Reggie dresses for this game.

    Give Justice a fair shake.

Or he maybe, just possibly, in some crazy fantastical universe where the moon is made of fairy dust and moonbeams, he has a back injury THAT REQUIRED SURGERY. It can’t be a huge shock that a 335lb man might struggle to recover from something like that.

tracer is the only one who has a brain

  9. 9. Scott Tunstall Says:

Great. He’s struggling to recover from a back injury. I GET IT so-called voices of reason. How exactly does that help the Eagles? It doesn’t. The point is his career is probably over. THAT’S A PROBLEM, DON’T YOU THINK!!!!!!!!!!!

“It can’t be a huge shock that a 335lb man might struggle to recover from something like that.”

completely agree. So what was last years excuse, oh yeah, depression.

you know, i really want a job where i get paid millions to sign the contract. without ever doing ANYTHING, and then show up for 2yr, and take the next 2 off. is there one like that out there for me? Oh, also, i want a boss who has blind faith in everything I tell him. ok. I love being an actor. what pot? that isn’t my pot. that belongs to,.. um.. herremans. yeah.

please. any other job, or player, 2 yrs riding the bench will not be on a team. Even Tom Brady rumors are floating around already that if he can’t cut the mustard after the injury this season he’s gone. So why is Andrews continually given the benefit of the doubt? McNabb played on a broken Ankle. TO played with a sprained ankle and a fractured fibula, barely 1 month after it happened…

this load of crap has got to go. resign Runyon and be done with it!

And btw, the Amendola remark earlier, was a bit of sarcasm…

Tell me, Dr. Tunstall, on what are you basing your diagnosis? Oh, you’re pulling it out of your ass? Ah. Well, I’m going to assume the guys paying Andrews’ salary and, you know, have actually met the dude might, maybe, possibly know something more about this than you

As far as Runyan, yes. A 35-year-old a few months removed from major knee surgery who’s been running for about three weeks is the perfect replacement. Good call.

  12. 12. Scott Tunstall Says:

We all need to settle ourselves down a bit. Relax. Take a deep breath. None of us, including me, knows a damn thing about Shawn Andrews condition. My “diagnosis” is based on the fact that giant football players with back injuries are sometimes forced into early retirement. It happens.

At the same time, putting Andrews on some sort of pedestal seems unrealistic. What, we are not allowed to question whether his career could be in jeopardy? We are not allowed to doubt his dedication when he himself has doubted it? Don’t you think Reid and Banner and Lurie are wondering how much future return they are going to get on their investment?

For the record, I never said Runyan was an adequate replacement. I’ve been writing for months that microfracture surgery for a 35-year-old is not easy to come back from. However, IF the guy passes a physical, it can’t hurt to bring him in, especially if Andrews is sidelined for a prolonged period of time.

Whew! I said I was done with Andrews. Now I am. We obviously all have our opinions, but let’s keep this place classy. No need to resort to juvenile name calling. We are all better than that, myself included ;)

  13. 13. Tracer Bullet Says:

I’m not saying he can’t be questioned. I’m just deeply irritated, for reasons I don’t really understand, that there is the prevailing notion that Andrews is just a fat dude faking an injury. But you’re right. The temperature has gotten entirely too high over what is supposed to be an entertainment.
