I’m not saying he can’t be questioned. I’m just deeply irritated, for reasons I don’t really understand, that there is the prevailing notion that Andrews is just a fat dude faking an injury. But you’re right. The temperature has gotten entirely too high over what is supposed to be an entertainment.

We all need to settle ourselves down a bit. Relax. Take a deep breath. None of us, including me, knows a damn thing about Shawn Andrews condition. My “diagnosis” is based on the fact that giant football players with back injuries are sometimes forced into early retirement. It happens.

At the same time, putting Andrews on some sort of pedestal seems unrealistic. What, we are not allowed to question whether his career could be in jeopardy? We are not allowed to doubt his dedication when he himself has doubted it? Don’t you think Reid and Banner and Lurie are wondering how much future return they are going to get on their investment?

For the record, I never said Runyan was an adequate replacement. I’ve been writing for months that microfracture surgery for a 35-year-old is not easy to come back from. However, IF the guy passes a physical, it can’t hurt to bring him in, especially if Andrews is sidelined for a prolonged period of time.

Whew! I said I was done with Andrews. Now I am. We obviously all have our opinions, but let’s keep this place classy. No need to resort to juvenile name calling. We are all better than that, myself included

As far as Runyan, yes. A 35-year-old a few months removed from major knee surgery who’s been running for about three weeks is the perfect replacement. Good call.

completely agree. So what was last years excuse, oh yeah, depression.

you know, i really want a job where i get paid millions to sign the contract. without ever doing ANYTHING, and then show up for 2yr, and take the next 2 off. is there one like that out there for me? Oh, also, i want a boss who has blind faith in everything I tell him. ok. I love being an actor. what pot? that isn’t my pot. that belongs to,.. um.. herremans. yeah.

please. any other job, or player, 2 yrs riding the bench will not be on a team. Even Tom Brady rumors are floating around already that if he can’t cut the mustard after the injury this season he’s gone. So why is Andrews continually given the benefit of the doubt? McNabb played on a broken Ankle. TO played with a sprained ankle and a fractured fibula, barely 1 month after it happened…

this load of crap has got to go. resign Runyon and be done with it!

And btw, the Amendola remark earlier, was a bit of sarcasm…

Or he maybe, just possibly, in some crazy fantastical universe where the moon is made of fairy dust and moonbeams, he has a back injury THAT REQUIRED SURGERY. It can’t be a huge shock that a 335lb man might struggle to recover from something like that.
