Eagles Work Out Jeremiah Trotter

File this under the WTF!!! category, but according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter (via his Twitter), the Eagles worked out retired linebacker and ex-Bird great, Jeremiah Trotter today.

Just filed this blast from the past to espn: Eagles worked out former standout LB Jeremiah Trotter. Team wanted to see shape he was in.

The team has since confirmed this story. Uh… where the hell do I begin with this piece of news? Trotter? Is he here to coach? The guy hasn’t played since 2007 and even then he looked slow and old. Either Joe Mays isn’t fully healthy, or Omar Gaither’s knee is worse than they are saying.

Leave it to the Eagles to astonish us on a daily basis. No word on whether he will be signed. I gotta believe he won’t, but then again…

    Yeah, I agree. Talk about desperate measures. They must really not be happy with Gaither for them to even consider Trotter. We better hope this offense can put up points consistently, because this is not a good sign at all. Ugh.
