Checking the Injury Report

Damn, the Eagles really need this week to end. Too bad they have a game on Sunday. Who will or won’t be available is still unknown, but that won’t stop me from speculating.

First, the Chiefs. Linebacker Derrick Johnson has declared himself out with a groin. I’m not sure if head coach Todd Haley agrees, but it looks like their best defender might not be able to go. In addition, wide receiver Dwayne Bowe is listed as questionable with a hamstring strain. It goes without saying that if either or both of them are out, it’s advantage Eagles.

Now to the Birds. Kevin Curtis is listed as doubtful, but Reid doesn’t seem concerned. Curtis has been seen limping around for a month and his knee isn’t getting better. I’d call this a problem. At any rate, Jeremy Maclin will get the start on Sunday alongside DeSean, who made it through practice Friday and apparently looked okay. Reggie Brown will likely be activated, but who knows how many snaps he’ll get, if any.

Demps, Patterson and of course Donny won’t go. An already beleaguered special teams unit will miss Demps and Patterson. What’s the over/under on penalties for this group on Sunday? I’m going with four.

Westy is questionable, just like he’s been for the last year. I can’t imagine he’ll be able to offer much after spraining the same ankle he had surgically repaired. I hope they just sit him and roll with Shady. They need to win this game, but not at the expense of Brian suffering yet another setback.

Consider this: We might see a starting offensive lineup that includes Kolb, DeSean, Maclin and Shady. These are strange days in Eagles Nation. Strange days indeed.

It's good to see the Chiefs have a few key injuries themselves. This bye week is going to be the best thing for the Eagles with the amount of injuries they have.

I saw John Clayton say on ESPN tonight that he doesn't think Westbrook will play Sunday. As much as I'd like to see him contribute, it may be best for the team if he just sits. Shady time!

You're not kidding. Normally I don't like early bye weeks, but this season it's coming at the exact right time.
