If there is a record for the number of times one player has rejoined the same team I think Jeremiah Trotter just broke it. For a third time in his on again, off again NFL career, Trotter is an Eagle. According to FOX sports Jay Glazer (via Twitter), the Eagles have signed the Axe Man to a one-year contract after visiting with him twice in the last week.
The four-time Pro Bowler was brought in to provide physicality and leadership on defense. Obviously Reid and Co. were none too pleased at the pounding delivered by the Saints two weeks ago. With punishing running games on the horizon, a move had to be made.
I still wonder how much, if at all, Trotter will see the field. His knees were a problem when he was in his prime. Being out of football for over a year probably helped ease his pain, but I can’t imagine he’s in fighting shape.
Nevertheless, Trotter is back! If nothing else, he’ll be good for a quote. To make room, Jeff Garcia was released.
