Eagles to Honor Randall Cunningham

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Finally, a feel good story Eagles related. At halftime of the week 3 game versus the Chiefs, the Eagles will add one of my boyhood heroes, Randall Cunningham, to the team’s honor roll. I still remember watching Randall deliver a 95-yard touchdown strike to Fred Barnett back in 1990 while playing the Bills in Rich Stadium. It ranks as the greatest play I’ve ever seen in person. Congratulations to Rockin’ Randall on getting this much deserved honor. The franchise is doing right by him. And yes, I find it ironic that they chose the same game Michael Vick makes his [...]

Wednesday’s Missing Links

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Entertainment, NFL, Off-Topic/Other, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

Time to jump aboard the sports blog space ship and take a leisurely trip around the Interwebs. This is not one of Donovan’s better looks. (No Guts, No Glory) Max Jean-Gilles blogs about Sunday’s big win. (MJG 62) Leodis McKelvin got some new landscapers after the loss to the Pats. (Outside The Boxscore) Monday Night Football might have peaked too soon. (NESW Sports) Giraffes fighting. Now you don’t see that every day. (Recall) Jim Tressel has been getting hateful emails. No way. (Bootlegger Sports) Ochocinco plans to do a Lambeau Leap on Sunday. I wonder if he knows that requires [...]

Kevin Kolb: The New Pariah in Philly

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL, Random Thoughts | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

We all knew this day would come. The day when Kevin Kolb would finally get his shot. I’m not talking about insignificant preseason contests, clean-up duty in blowouts or two quarters on the road against a ferocious defense. No, I mean getting all the first team practice reps in preparation to run onto Lincoln Financial Field as the starting signal caller for the Eagles. Andy Reid believes in Kolb. His teammates say they are confident he can lead, but it’s not like they’re going to trash the dude, even off the record. This ain’t Dallas. Dictator Reid runs a pretty [...]

Eagles Activate Vick, Waive Baskett

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

According to FOX NFL Insider Jay Glazer, the Eagles have activated Michael Vick and waived Hank Baskett. Hank was rumored to be on the block since yesterday. Now he’s a goner. I liked Hank, but the shaky quarterback situation is forcing the Birds to juggle knives and bowling balls at this point. Stay tuned for more. Subscribe to ITI

Shawn Andrews Placed on IR

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well, well, look what happened. Shawn Andrews‘ 2009 season is finished. The Eagles needed to make a roster move to make room for Jeff Garcia, and shifting the Big Kid to IR was it. All I have to say about this is, I told you so. I hope Andrews gets better, but the odds we see him in midnight green again are slim. Subscribe to ITI

Cheesesteak of the Week

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Entertainment, NFL | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

I’m starting a new feature this week at ITI. After every Eagles game – win or lose – I’m going to award the Cheesesteak of the Week to the player/players who I believe stood out the most. There were plenty of worthy candidates from the win versus the Panthers, but I went with a couple guys from the secondary: Sheldon Brown and Asante Samuel The dynamic duo played a delicious brand of football on Sunday. They limited Steve Smith to three catches for 21 yards and kept him out of the end zone. Overall, Brown and Samuel combined for three [...]

REPORT: Eagles To Sign Jeff Garcia

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

According to Sal Pal on 950 ESPN, the Eagles will sign quarterback Jeff Garcia to help shore up a position made cloudy by the fractured rib suffered by McNabb in yesterday’s win versus the Panthers. It’s deja vu all over again. With AJ Feeley headed to Carolina, Garcia was the only logical candidate available. Update: It’s a one-year deal. Don’t look for Garcia to start anytime soon. Reid believes in Kolb and will give him his shot. Providing Don can return in a few weeks, I doubt Garcia’s stay will be long. Subscribe to ITI

Eagle Eye Observations: Week 1

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL, Random Thoughts | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Another season means the return of the Eagle Eye. There was plenty to see in the dominating Eagles victory yesterday. Here it goes. I’ll start with McNabb. An injury-free 2008 2009 was too good to be true. His third quarter rib crack came on a red zone play that was designed to be a pass. Ever the warrior, Don tucked it under and bulldozed his way across the goal line. A late hit that wasn’t called contributed to three Panthers sandwiching him. It looked painful. Again, why was he running? At the three-yard line, they called a pass. No one [...]

Eagles Crush Panthers To Open Season

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, Gameday, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

It was a good news, bad news situation for the Eagles today. They won the game in dominating fashion 38-10, but also lost quarterback Donovan McNabb to a rib injury. How long McNabb will be sidelined is yet undetermined. Let’s forget that for a moment and talk about the game. We all wondered how young Sean McDermott would fare in his first meaningful game as commander of the defense. Well, how does seven forced turnovers sound? How does five interceptions sound? How does five sacks sound? How does 169 total yards allowed sound? Sounds pretty damn good to me. After [...]

Eagles Game Day Inactives

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, Gameday, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

These gentleman won’t be playing this afternoon: Reggie Brown, Brandon Gibson, Sean Jones, Jason Babin, Mike McGlynn, Joe Mays and Todd Herremans. I might be missing one guy. Wink. Anyway, no Babin and Sean Jones is a little surprising. Looks like Antonio Dixon will get some reps stopping the Panthers rush attack. And why keep seven receivers if all you’re going to do is deactivate two of them every week? Something must be afoot. Right? Subscribe to ITI
