A Highlight Package and Some Fearless Forecasting

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Entertainment, Gameday, NFL, Video | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Today is the day. Finally, a very long offseason and preseason culminates in another season of Eagles football. I for one am beyond pumped. I can’t wait to see how Sean McDermott maneuvers his chess pieces. I am excited to see an offense that has the potential to be one of the league’s most dominant. I’m sure it will take a couple weeks to shake off the rust and work out the kinks, but the Birds are stacked with talent. The sky, as they say, is the limit. Here’s a package I whipped together detailing the Birds magical 2008 playoff [...]

Shawn Andrews Ruled OUT For Sunday

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: 13 Comments

According to Reid himself, Shawn Andrews has been scratched from Sunday’s game versus the Panthers. I am officially done talking about Andrews. He has a bad back and can’t be counted on. If he ever plays again, great. If not, I just don’t give a @#$%. For better or worse, the Winston Justice era begins now. Subscribe to ITI

Two Things Eagles Fans Can Count On In 2009

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL, Random Thoughts | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Never a dull moment. Being an Eagles fan is tasking to say the least. Yesterday, three pieces of news had most of Eagles Nation alternating between head-scratching and eye-rolling. 1) Jon Runyan worked out in Philly 2) Shawn Andrews’ back flared up 3) Brian Westbrook showed up on the injury report The first was only mildly surprising. The second wasn’t surprising at all. The third was expected, but still makes me cringe a bit. Runyan – Will he or won’t he be brought back? Reports are he left for Bills country last night. Buffalo has their own O-line woes which [...]

Thursday’s Missing Links

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Entertainment, Fantasy, NFL, Off-Topic/Other, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

Fasten your seat belts folks. Time for another trip around the sports blogosphere. Richard Seymour really doesn’t want to play for the Raiders. Here’s what he’d rather be doing. (Pacman Jonesin’) Do you know the name Sanya Richards? Well, you should. (FanSided) Swine flu is running rampant across college campuses. (Bootlegger Sports) This Bud Light commercial will have you “bent over” laughing. (Detroit 4 Lyfe) A tribute to the best there ever was in the NBA. (Not Qualified to Comment) John McEnroe involved in shenanigans at the US Open? Nah… (NESW Sports) These starting NFL running backs really blow. (Style [...]

A Jon Runyan Sighting in Philly

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

According to Jeff McLane via his Twitter, big Jon Runyan was at the NovaCare Complex this morning. Runyan was out on the field with Reid, Castillo and Heckert, who had no comment. Interesting. Runyan also paid a visit to the Chiefs earlier this week. Is he ready to play? Tough to say. If he is, he would give the Eagles some needed experience behind Shawn Andrews. Stay tuned. Update: The Big Kid did not practice today and was seen “moving around slowly.” A show of hands: Who is shocked by this news? Andrews=Unreliable. Subscribe to ITI

Fear the Cats

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

I have no idea what to expect from the Eagles on Sunday. At this point, they remain an enigma. Is the O-line ready to gel together? Will the tight end carousel cause problems? Is Omar Gaither prepared to man the middle again? Can a rookie named Macho Harris ease our worries in the secondary? Does Brian Westbrook have anything left? Will Sean McDermott make the correct calls at the right times? What’s the deal with seven wide receivers? Whew! That’s a lot to digest heading into week 1. Let’s forget about the problems in midnight green for a moment and [...]

Quintin Demps Isn’t A Complete Waste

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Jeff McClane caught up with the Eagles new staring free safety today. Young Macho declared himself ready to go for Sunday. Here’s what he had to say about making the switch to free safety: “When I came out of college I didn’t know anything about free safety,” Harris said. “I didn’t know my alignments. I felt like I was covering grass rather than being around making plays. But now that I’ve been hip to it, coaches coaching me up, guys like Quintin Mikell — even Quintin Demps, he helped me out a lot, too. I’ve got a bunch great guys [...]

I Guess Lorenzo Booker Sucks More Than Tony Hunt

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Entertainment, News, NFL | COMMENTS: 12 Comments

I’ve always been amused by players and their numbers. Some are very superstitious when it comes to the sewn digits that reside on the fronts and backs of their jerseys; so much so that they will pay a teammate cold hard cash to land the number they hold nearest and dearest. Other players could care less. They see it as just a number and nothing more. Shady McCoy is not one of those guys. A couple days after switching from #29 to #25, McCoy has reverted back to the #29. Strange. I suspect the curse of Lorenzo Booker scared the [...]

Thinking Out Loud

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL, Random Thoughts | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

As we inch closer to Sunday, I’ve got a bunch of thoughts rattling around in the old noggin. Maybe you can help me answer a few questions. Please… I don’t want to beg, but I will if I must. – The Patriots seem to have escaped scrutiny for trading Richard Seymour to the Raiders for a first-round pick. I think they made the right decision. A number one pick for a declining defensive player is a coup. However, I wonder if Reid were to do the same thing if he would be met with such praise? Or would he be [...]

Eagles Sign TE Alex Smith

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

According to FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer via his Twitter, the Eagles have signed tight end Alex Smith today. Smith was recently released by the Patriots. He is known as a solid pass catcher, but only an average blocker. To make room for Smith, Tony Curtis has been released. This is a bit puzzling. I thought Curtis was supposed to be a blocker. Why add another guy who can’t help in the run game? I guess Reid and Co. are confident Celek can get the job done. Subscribe to ITI

Is Macho the Man?

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL, Random Thoughts | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

It’s September 8, 2009 and the Eagles have still not found a permanent replacement for the departed Brian Dawkins. For the last several months, we were all led to believe that guy was Quintin Demps. The coaching staff talked him up and displayed nothing but confidence in the second-year free safety. Yesterday, a mere six days before the season opener in Carolina, rookie Macho Harris was seen running with the first team defense. Is he really the answer, or does this represent a last ditch attempt by Big Red and Little Red to light a fire under the disappointing Demps? [...]
