Play the FanSided Fantasy Football Challenge

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Entertainment, Fantasy, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

FanSided has joined forces with FanSection in a Facebook Fantasy Football Challenge league for the fine readers of Inside the Iggles. This is a little different than normal Fantasy Football leagues in that there is a salary cap. Under salary cap rules, there is no draft. Instead, you switch out players as the season progresses. The winner of this free league will pocket a $25 gift certificate to Team Fan Shop, and whoever scores the most points across the FanSided Sports Network will receive a $300 AMEX gift certificate. Here’s what you need to do: 1) If you are on [...]

Phil Sheridan is Drinking the Sal Pal Kool-Aid

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL, Random Thoughts | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

The quarterback controversy bandwagon has a new driver. His name is Phil Sheridan. It’s become evident lately that Phil can’t think of anything original to write about in his weekly Inquirer column. In lieu of digging for a “real” story, Sheridan prefers to pull out the standard playbook for lazy writers covering the Eagles. MCNABB’S STARTING DAYS ARE NUMBERED Geesh. Maybe Sheridan is angling for a new gig over at Pro Football Talk. If so, he’s doing his very best to stir a hornet’s nest that doesn’t exist. Normally, the McNabb-hate stories are reserved for Sal Pal, but I guess [...]

Is Macho Harris the Eagles Starting Free Safety?

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles | COMMENTS: None Yet

According to ESPN 950′s Brian Seltzer via Twitter, he is: Quintin Demps no longer starting FS. Looks like job has fallen to Macho Harris. Seltzer then tweeted a follow up: To clarify on that…Macho was first stringer at today’s practice…that per Demps. That was the scene while observing 10-10-10 practice. Will Macho be the starter on Sunday? It’s still unclear at this point. Stay tuned. Subscribe to ITI

Eagles Finalize Practice Squad

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Eagles have filled out their eight-man practice squad. Jack Iguana, Marcus Mailei, Reshard Langford and linebacker Jeremy Leman. Iguana still intrigues me. A year away from football clearly hurt him this summer. Maybe another offseason will get him right. In other news, with Lorenzo Booker kicked to the curb, Shady McCoy has changed his number to 25. I guess the stink of Tony Hunt’s #29 still lingered. Hopefully, the new digits will do Shady some good. He looked a little slow in the last couple preseason games. Subscribe to ITI

Eagles Add Four to Practice Squad

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Eagles also added four players to the practice squad: Danny Amendola, Rob Myers, Mike Gibson and Paul Fanaika. Amendola and Myers both flashed during the fake games. Reid loves his beef along the O-Line, so why not reserve a couple mammoth guards like Gibson and Fanaika. The four remaining spots on the practice squad will be announced tomorrow. Stay tuned. Eagles Release AJ Feeley

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

A guy can’t even go to the movies without the Eagles making another move. Is there no justice? By the way, if you haven’t yet seen District 9, this blogger gives it two alien-like appendages up. As all of you I’m sure already know, the Birds said bye, bye to AJ Feeley today and claimed 320 lb defensive tackle Antonio Dixon off waivers. Feeley ends a second stint in midnight green after three seasons. I’m sure AJ won’t have trouble finding new employment. The Packers could be a possible destination. The Birds will now roll with three signal callers. That’s [...]

Eagles Cut Three More

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL, Preseason | COMMENTS: None Yet

So along Eugene Bright, Willie Williams and Curtis Gatewood. This comes from multiple sources (Jeff McLane, Geoff Mosher, Moving the Chains) via Twitter. Bright sealed his fate last night with a blatant drop. Williams and Gatewood were complete non-factors. The roster now stands at 72. Nineteen to go…. Update: Sources also say the Eagles have inked defensive end Jason Babin to a new deal, terms undisclosed. Babin has been a preseason star since Heckert and Reid pulled him off the scrap heap. Let’s hope he continues his stellar play into the regular season. With Darren Howard still nursing a bad [...]

You know what time it is? Time to pay homage to the sports blogosphere. Some celebs and sports stars just don’t know when to call it quits. (FanSided) Breaking down the NFC East wide receiving corps. (DC Pro Sports Report) Sad news about the great Ernie Harwell. (Detroit 4 Lyfe) L.A. is the place to be for all things hoops. (FanSided) The Patriots are up to something. Aren’t they always? (My Sports Rumors) The best hit in the Oregon-Boise State game last night took place after it was over. (Fan IQ) On a related note, here are some legendary cheap [...]

Chris Cooley Calls Brent Celek a Fantasy Sleeper

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Entertainment, Fantasy, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

This might be sacrilegious among Eagles Nation, but I actually like Chris Cooley. The dude is always up to some sort of shenanigans (he burned a dead cow once). He’s also in tune with the world of blogging, which I kinda dig, since I too am a blogger. Believe it or not, Chris can string together nouns, verbs and adjectives to form clear, concise sentences. Cooley has also filled in for Peter King (not hard to do) on SI.com’s MMQB. Today he’s back at SI.com, pinch hitting for Jimmy Traina at Hot Clicks. If you’re not familiar with Hot Clicks, [...]

Eagles-Jets Observations

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL, Preseason | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

There’s nothing better than watching the fourth preseason game. Ugh. For the most part, the Eagles reserves played an awful brand of football. The offensive line couldn’t pick up a blitz and the defensive line (except Babin) couldn’t stop the run or sustain pressure. It was what you’d expect from guys who will be on the street come Saturday night. Who looked good: Eldra Buckley – Ran hard and played aggressive on special teams. I will be shocked if he doesn’t make the team. But I’ve been shocked before during the Reid era. Several times. Tony Curtis – I didn’t [...]

Vick Eligible to Play Week 3

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

According to the Eagletarian, Michael Vick will be allowed to participate in regular season contests beginning in week 3. Commissioner Roger Goodell made his ruling earlier today after meeting with Vick and Andy Reid. The Eagles host the Chiefs week 3. That should be an interesting seven days leading up to the game. So, the Birds will have two games sans Vick to get their “normal” offense in order. Then Reid and Co. can commence with screwing up the chemistry and disrupting the rhythm. I can’t wait.
