Curtis Out, Maclin In
It looks like rookie Jeremy Maclin has supplanted Kevin Curtis as the starting X receiver. It seemed like only a matter of time before this happened, but Curtis’ bum knee certainly made Reid’s decision easier. It’s obvious the future is now for Maclin.
In his Friday presser, Reid hinted that Curtis could be shut down for the season if his knee doesn’t improve. This would damage the Eagles depth at receiver, but it’s not as if Curtis was contributing much anyway. Too bad they had to dump Hank Baskett, because they could really use him now. Oh, well.

Great for Maclin, but also great for Brandon Gibson. As far as depth is concerned, Gibson is probably going to be activated for games, and I think he is going to be needed. The guy makes plays. Now, I think Maclin realizes that he can be this year’s DJax, and start contributing more and more. Curtis just didn’t look comfortable out there (and was dropping passes). Curtis is a good receiver, but it’s time to look at the future of this receiving core (which is pretty bright).
