I Want To See Michael Vick Do This

AUTHOR: Scott Tunstall | IN: Eagles | COMMENTS: 5 Comments |

Watch the following video from Monday night’s game. The second highlight is Ronnie Brown doing what Vick should be doing when running the Wildwhatever.

Reid and Co. need to mix things up. What’s the point of using Vick if all he’s going to do is take the snap and run? He’s a friggin’ quarterback. Design some rollouts and let him air it out. That will take defenses by surprise. That will keep defenses guessing.

Maybe Reid is holding back until he plays the Giants and Cowboys. Right now, he’s not being very creative.

I could be wrong….I’m not NFL coach nor do I play one on TV, but I really believe they are saving it for divisional games against the Giants and Cowboys. AR keeps talking about all the stuff we haven’t seen yet. Why give them tape to study when we are playing the Raiders or Bucs? Let’s hold the cards until the right hand.

I’m just not buying that this is the best we can do with the Wild-Eagle-Cat thing. Regardless if Vick is 100% in football shape, he’s got to be able to do and give more than what we’ve seen.

  2. Luke says:

Knowing Reid, he’s probably building up to that. He’s getting defenses into the mindset that Vick is only going to run. I say, come playoff time or big games late in the season, he’ll start to surprise them with that.

  3. Luke says:

    Yeah, or what Mark said.

  4. Mike says:

If Vick had some type of break out game against the Giants it would be great. Integrating Vick’s arm into the wildcat would make it super hard to defend against.

I could see Vick hitting Celek on that little roll out play all day.

  5. Tony says:

Maybe Reid is keeping things vanilla until they face the Giants, but I honestly think that the Eagles have very little room for Vick. He doesn’t fit their offensive system, and I think that designing plays just for him may be a burden and take away precious practice time throughout the week.
I know they’re pros and should catch on quick, but this is just a feeling I get.
