For whatever reason, I’m having trouble getting pumped for this game. I have a feeling watching Eagles fans and Raiders fans throw down in the parking lot will be more competitive than the actual on-field action.
I’ll be blunt. If the Eagles take a dump and lose this one, they deserve to be smashed and ridiculed for the remainder of the season. The Raiders are a poorly run disaster of a franchise right now. The Birds are considered one of the best managed organizations in all of sports.
Perusing the Raiders roster, I picked only four players who could start for the Eagles: Asomugha, Seymour, Howard and Lechler. That’s it.
This game should be over by halftime, but our beloved Birds have a tendency to let inferior teams hang around longer than they should. Look at the Bucs last week. Not to mention trips to the left coast are always tricky. Last season’s jaunt to San Fran turned out fine, but it took gang green a half to pull their heads from their behinds.
I’m not going to pontificate about matchups and X’s and O’s. The Eagles are superior in every category, except maybe special teams. I’ve been pegging this game as a potential clunker. I’m not prepared to forecast a loss, but I think this will fall into the “ugly win” column.
Eagles 24, Raiders 9
