Eleven Years In The Making

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL, Random Thoughts | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Remember all the times during the last decade when Andy Reid would sit in front of the media and express his satisfaction with his receiving corps by stating that he didn’t want or need a true number one wideout in his version of the west coast offense? He would stoically proclaim that he had a bunch of playmakers, not just one or two. Fans would throw up their hands, shake their heads in disbelief and hurl expletives at their television or computer screen. That’s because there was a major flaw in Reid’s logic. The so-called playmakers were mostly garbage.

Eagles Workout Marcus McCauley

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

With the Eagles secondary depleted by injuries, the team had ex-Vikings/Lions cornerback Marcus McCauley in for a look today. This info comes from Adam Caplan, via his Twitter. McCauley, 6’1″ 203 lbs, was released by the Lions on September 29th. The Birds also signed another corner, Stoney Woodson, to the practice squad and dumped linebacker Jeremy Leman. Dimitri Patterson, Asante Samuel and Ellis Hobbs all left Sunday’s game with hurts. Samuel and Hobbs are said to be fine, but Patterson’s condition is unknown. Reid will update the status of injured players tomorrow. Subscribe to ITI

Cheesesteak of the Week

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Entertainment, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

The cheesesteak is back! After another impressive (sort of) victory on Sunday, many an Eagle was salivating for a chance to win this tasty award. Well, only a privileged few are worthy. Actually, this one was pretty easy. Two guys clearly separated themselves from the pack. And the winners are:

Eagle Eye Observations: Week 5

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL, Random Thoughts | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

I went into greater detail than normal in my post-game wrap, so I’ll keep these as brief as possible. Here we go: Reid is now 11-0 after the bye week. Got that out of the way. Sheldon had another pick, but was also burned twice. One was dropped by Michael Clayton. Speaking of drops. Bucs had seven at last count. They left points on the field. I loved the thumbs up to the sideline from McNabb after he was crushed on a sack.

Eagles Crush Bucs 33-14

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, Gameday, NFL | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

At least I won’t have to repaint my truck or watch Cutthroat Island. Whew! The Eagles disposed of the Bucs today, but were hardly impressive in doing so. McNabb and Jeremy Maclin were the offense. The defense had trouble with a quarterback making his second career start. The special teams continued their spaz-like ways. Let’s discuss, shall we.

Trevor Laws Inactive For Eagles

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Gameday, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Hopefully, this is one of those bench the guy to get him motivated moves. Trevor Laws, who was supposed to be the third defensive tackle for the Eagles, is a healthy scratch today. Instead, scrap heap signing Antonio Dixon gets the nod. This is obviously not a good omen for Laws, a second-round pick in 2008. To be honest, I haven’t seen him do much at all since he’s been wearing midnight green. Is he just off to a slow start, or are we looking at another bust? Too early to tell, but if he continues to be left off [...]

Eagles-Bucs Prediction

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Gameday, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Prediction time! Josh Johnson is in for a treat on Sunday. Sean McDermott is going to frighten and confuse him into oblivion. He might make a few plays with his legs, but expect a couple picks and at least three sacks. If I was McNabb, I’d steer clear of Ronde Barber. He’s made Donny look foolish in the past. No reason to tempt fate. Feed Celek and Avant over the middle and mix in Westy and Shady. Maybe throw a screen pass or two. Remember those? The hefty 15 point spread scares the doo doo out of me. The Eagles [...]

Curtis Out, Maclin In

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It looks like rookie Jeremy Maclin has supplanted Kevin Curtis as the starting X receiver. It seemed like only a matter of time before this happened, but Curtis’ bum knee certainly made Reid‘s decision easier. It’s obvious the future is now for Maclin. In his Friday presser, Reid hinted that Curtis could be shut down for the season if his knee doesn’t improve. This would damage the Eagles depth at receiver, but it’s not as if Curtis was contributing much anyway. Too bad they had to dump Hank Baskett, because they could really use him now. Oh, well. Five Things I’ll Do If the Eagles Lose To the Bucs

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Entertainment, NFL, Video | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

I’m confident the Eagles will beat the Bucs on Sunday. So confident I’m willing to put my dignity and sense of style on the line. If for some strange reason the Birds get bounced by the Buccos, here are five things I’m a gonna do:

Oh That Pesky Knee Swelling

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, News, NFL, Random Thoughts | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

I love listening to Andy Reid talk about injuries. He’s not overly clinical and usually breaks it down in terms even the dumbest blogger can understand. For example, McNabb‘s busted rib getting “sticky” painted quite the image. Yesterday, Reid went into great detail on the subject of knee swelling. Kevin Curtis has been dealing with the dreaded knee swelling for the last two months. He’s working through it and allegedly getting better, but we’ve heard this before from Reid. Brian Westbrook battled an inflamed knee for the majority of the 2008 campaign. It caused him to miss practice on a [...]
