Eagles Place Ellis Hobbs On IR

Posted by: Scott Tunstall

The Eagles have placed kick returner/cornerback Ellis Hobbs on injured reserve after he suffered a severe neck injury that will require surgery. This sucks. I like Hobbs and we all saw the last two weeks how dangerous he can be as a return man. The job now falls to Quintin Demps, Jeremy Maclin and Macho Harris.

To fill Hobbs’ roster spot, cornerback Ramzee Robinson has been signed, formerly of the Lions. He was Mr. Irrelevant in 2007, the moniker awarded the last player drafted. Cool!

In other boo boo news, both Akeem Jordan (hyperextended knee) and Jason Peters (sprained ankle) sat out practice today and remain question marks to make the trip to San Diego. Oh, and Westbrook is still dealing with his nagging ankle, but you already knew that.

I’m guessing Jordan won’t be able to go. If that’s the case, McDermott will have to do some serious scrambling, because the idea of Trotter on the field against Antonio Gates is not very inviting.
