Cheesesteak of the Week

Posted by: Scott Tunstall

I shall not be deterred by another disappointing loss. The cheesesteak remains on the menu. Pickings were slim this week, but a couple guys put forth the maximum effort on Sunday.

The easy choice would be McNabb. Tossing for 450 yards looks good on the stat sheet, but when you chuck it 55 times and complete 35, you should post 400+ yards. Instead, I’m going with one of the guys Don was targeting all game long. That would be the man with the hands of silk. The winner is…

Jason Avant

It was a career day for Avant with 8 grabs for 156 yards, highlighted by an amazing one-handed snag down the right sideline. Avant operated in the seams and over the middle to perfection. You need a sweet set of mitts to corral Don’s heaters. Avant has some of the best I’ve ever seen. In addition, his route running is superb.

Hopefully, the front office can get him under lock and key soon because I can count at least a dozen teams who would love to add a player like Jason. The fact that he could be a starter elsewhere might require the Birds to open up their checkbooks in order to retain his services.
