It’s always fun to take a gander at the Eagles’ stat sheets. Here are a few tidbits I found interesting.
- They have committed at least three penalties in every game this season.
- They have been flagged for seven or more infractions in six of nine games.
- They have recorded double-digit penalties twice.
- They have had a receiver eclipse 100 yards six times.
- They have had a running back eclipse 100 yards zero times.
- The highest rushing total by a back is 84 yards.
- In five of nine games, the leading rusher has run for less than 60 yards.
- They have yet to allow a 100 yard rusher. LT’s 96 was the most.
- They have yet to allow a wide receiver top 100 yards. Marques Colston’s 98 in week 2 is the most.
- They have allowed a tight end to surpass 100 yards: tight end Zach Miller posted 139 yards in week 5.
- They have scored ten touchdowns of over forty yards.
- They have allowed three touchdowns of over forty yards.
So, they lack discipline, don’t run the ball, play pretty good defense and score lots of long touchdowns. Sounds to me like if they dedicated themselves to run blocking better and cleaning up stupid mistakes, they might actually be a quality team.
Easier said than done.

Scott – send this to Andy…there’s still time to save the season!!
In all honesty, it’s just a very young team. They’re going to be wildly inconsistent and commit more penalties than we’re used to.
