Eagle Eye Observations: Week 8

Watching the Eagles blowout the Chiefs is fun. Watching them destroy the Giants is the party of the year. Time to take a closer look at the massacre. It wasn’t all puppy dogs and ice cream, but it was by far the best game the Birds have played in ’09. Here’s another view from the Eagle Eye: The offense racked up 180 yards on the ground. 107 came on the two long TD runs. 14 on a scramble from McNabb. That leaves 59 yards on 21 carries. Eagles Crush Giants

Maybe I should pick the Eagles to lose more often. Finally, after eight weeks, the Birds put together a fantastic gameplan in all three phases and executed it to near perfection. Obviously, I’m glad my prediction of a Big Blue victory was completely off the mark. Eagles 40, Giants 17 Let’s reflect on what a suddenly crisp offense was able to accomplish versus the hated Giants: – Leonard Weaver with a 41-yard touchdown run – Brent Celek with a 17-yard red zone TD catch – DeSean with a 54-yard touchdown reception (his 6th 50+ yard TD of the season) – [...]

Eagles-Giants Prediction

If McNabb and the offense were clicking, this game would set up perfectly for the Eagles. The Giants are hurting in the secondary. DeSean and Maclin and Celek should find plenty of room to roam, but the question is will Donny be able to a) find them and b) hit them in stride. Forget about the run game. Westy will be a no-go (barring a stupid decision that allows him to play). McCoy is struggling to a) trust his blockers and b) trust his instincts. He might be useful in the screen game, but don’t expect more than fifteen carries. [...]
