Cheesesteak of the Week

Finally, a convincing win. Nice. The Eagles seem to have found a little consistency the last three games. A balanced offense and an aggressively creative defense have been common themes. Both these things were on display in the crushing defeat of the Falcons.

Once again, there were plenty of worthy candidates in line to take home the coveted cheesesteak. I could have easily jammed five guys on the bun, but I elected to narrow the field down to a pair of standout gents. And the winners are…

Leonard Weaver and Sean McDermott

The “Face Cleaver” earns a second succulent sandwich after compiling 100 total yards on only seven touches, including a touchdown and two incredible catches. To be honest, of all the exciting young talent on this team, I enjoy watching  Big Weave most of all. He runs hard, smashes heads and has hands of glue. He’s a lock to get a Pro Bowl invite; none of the other NFC fullbacks can hold a candle to him.

Loyal ITI reader JD made the nomination, so for the first time in the short history of the cheesesteak award, I am honoring a coach. Sean McDermott has been behind the eight ball since July. High expectations and mounting injuries haven’t made his job any easier, but McDermott doesn’t hide behind excuses. His charges totally dominated a depleted Falcons offense, holding them to 295 yards and intercepting two Chris Redman passes.
